THE CELESTIAL WITHOUT ALSO WON BRONZE, AND SIR BEERCIOUS WON A SILVER MEDAL.
The VI edition of the prestigious Barcelona Beer Challenge, whose awards ceremony was held on 29 May, has inaugurated a new category: the hard seltzer, in a clear recognition of this drink that year after year exceeds its expectations of market share growth, and is gaining consumers all over the world. RAD, our hard seltzer, has won the Bronze Medal for its Red Fruits flavour. With an alcohol content of 4.5% Alc. Vol, RAD is gluten free, has 83 kcal per can and 0 sugars, and is available in two other flavours in addition to the award-winning Red Berry: Lemon & Mint and Orange & Strawberry.
On the other hand, our non-alcoholic IPA from the Celestial SIN range won the Bronze Medal in the Non-Alcoholic Beer category. In this 6th edition of the international competition, 232 craft and industrial breweries competed with 1,167 beers in 60 categories.
With this Bronze Medal, Celestial SIN IPA has now won three awards since it was launched in the middle of last year. In November 2020, it was the winner in the Innova Category of the Generalitat Valenciana Craftsmanship Awards, and won the Gold Medal at the Lyon International Competition in 2021. It should be noted that in the Non-Alcoholic Beer category of the Barcelona Beer Challenge, and ahead of Celestial SIN IPA, there were two references from Bernard, the Czech Republic's craft brewery founded in the 16th century.
As for the award-winning IPA, it is the first of a range of non-alcoholic beers that we have created and which is made up of four other styles: Brown Ale, Hoppy Lager, Pastry Stout and Helles. All of them are already available on draught and, in the coming months, these last four styles will also be available in sleek cans and bottles.
We are thus consolidating our position as the only craft brewery in Spain to launch a complete series of non-alcoholic beers on the market, in a clear commitment to lead the domestic and foreign market for No-Lo (no or low alcohol) beverages. The five Celestial SIN styles contain less than 0.5% Alc. Vol, are gluten free and provide only 66 kcal.
In the English IPA category, SIR BEERCIOUS won the Silver Medal. This reference, with its fruity, citric and floral aroma and its 5.5% Alc. Vol., already triumphed at the Barcelona Beer Challenge in 2016, when it won bronze; the same award it won that year at the Dublin Craft Beer Cup. In 2019, it was awarded Best Country Winner at the World Beer Awards in London. And it also accompanied the Celestial SIN IPA with a Gold Medal at the International Competition in Lyon.
